Men's 1st Division Head Coach Opportunity for the Calgary Saints Rugby Club


The Calgary Saints Senior Men's 1st team is looking for a Qualified and Experienced Head Coach for the Alberta Club Competition 2010.


High quality and skilful training sessions will be run Tuesday and Thursdays with Saturday games.


Season runs April - Sept '10


Games will be played on Saturday afternoons, but occasional weekday games before a long weekend. Occasional travel is required.


Competitive Wage with possible packages to be negotiated

Lethbridge Rugby Club - Women's Head Coach

The Lethbridge Rugby Club is looking for a head coach for our women's team for the 2010 season (April-August).

We are looking for a NCCP level 2 qualified individual who has coaching experience. You must be able to attend 2 practice sessions a week (Tuesday/Thursdays) and one match usually every weekend.

It is important to be able to travel as we play across the province of Alberta.

Salary and other benefits are negotiable and depend on coaching experience. We can assist with finding living accommodations.

If you are coming from overseas a visa is an asset.

Banff RFC - Men's Head Coach

Banff Rugby Football Club is looking for a coach for their senior men's team for the 2010 season with the possibility of an extension.

Situated in the Canadian Rockies, approximately 45 minutes from Calgary, the club trains and plays in the picturesque town of Banff, Alberta.

Responsibilities:

  • Attending and planning 2 training sessions per week and 1 match per weekend.
  • Attend all club meetings to help develop the plans and future plans of the BRFC
  • Commit to the "no pay, no play" philosophy, and the "train to play" philosophy of the BRFC.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • IRB/NCCP level 2
  • Minimum of 5 years coaching experience
  • Competency of playing or coaching at a higher level of senior rugby
  • Experience in working with and developing junior level rugby players

Remuneration:

Assistance with finding room and board will be provided as well as salary of $600/month.

Calgary Canucks RFC - Men's Head Coach

The Calgary Canucks Rugby Club is seeking a Head Coach for the upcoming 2010 season and beyond.

The candidate will be responsible for all coaching direction, planning and development for the First XV and Second XV.

The Head Coach will set direction for practice and strategy that will prepare the team for games.

The season begins in mid April and ends at the end of September.

The Canucks Rugby Club fields three men's teams that play 12 to 14 games per division. Founded in 1969, the club has been a top level contender all through its' history. It has a strong Junior program that runs from U8 to U18 and has a number of strong young players that are coming up to the First Division to challenge for positions. The Canucks's Third Division side are the current Provincial Champions. In 2008, the Canuck's won the City Championship in Second Division and the Provincial Championship in Third Division. In 2007, the First Division side made it to the Provincial Final.

In 2010, the Club plans to tour to the Carribbean in May.

The Canucks are well known as a very organized club that emphasizes strong competition and social interaction.

The successful applicant will have a strong ability to lead and work with motivated club players and carry a positive attitude. Remuneration is based on an honorarium basis and is negotiable.

Calgary Rams - Senior Men’s Head Coach

Contract Type: 6 months (April through September)

Reports to: Club President and VP Men

Job Description:

Calgary Rams Rugby Club is currently looking for a Senior Men’s Head Coach for the upcoming season. The successful candidate will be responsible for the running of the Senior Men’s teams (Division 2 and Division 3) including team planning, development and preparation. The Senior Men’s coach would also offer guidance to the junior program in conjunction with the Junior VP.

Responsibilities:

With guidance from the executive, establish a team vision, effective team values, standards and protocols that fit with Calgary Rams Rugby Club ethos. This includes:

  • Conducting a minimum of two weekly senior team training sessions, in addition to 1-2 games per week (sometimes varies depending on CRU scheduling).
  • Preparation of a full season training and development plan
  • Planning and executing training sessions in a structured and consistent manner, including providing session plans and target areas for each club training session
  • Team selection in accordance with club’s selection committee/criteria (to be reviewed)
  • A structured approach to the development of the Division 3 team/Junior players
  • Guidance and development of assistant and junior coach(es) to ensure that training sessions are organized consistently and effectively
  • Assistance with the development of junior rugby within the club
  • Maintaining a high standard of discipline and presentation at all times
  • Providing close and regular communications to all Senior Men’s players and executive

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will be expected to have:

  • Knowledge of SAFE rugby
  • Completed or enrolled in NCCP Level II course (NCCP Level III preferred)
  • An understanding and knowledge of Rugby, and the current trends in the modern game (including new law variations)
  • An ability to select, direct and coach a senior men’s rugby team
  • A passion for rugby and the desire to drive the club forward

The successful candidate will receive a monthly honorarium and Rugby Canada registration.
