The Calgary Rugby Union is proud to announce the following players have been named to the Canadian Senior Women's squad that will be particpating in the CanAm tournament this month.

The current expansion of the number of playing fields at the Calgary Rugby Union's current facility is temporarily being put on hold. Due to the recent global economic downturn, the CRU finds itself short of the required funds and it has also been denied access to critical funding support from the Provincial Government (through the MCFP grant program), to complete the work required to adequately finish the two fields previously approved for expansion. Due to this roadblock, the CRU will find itself in a "state of construction renovation" for the remainder of 2009 and, quite possibly, a good part of 2010 until the required funds are arranged to complete the planned work.

To this end, everyone using the CRU fields and facilities for the 2009 season will have to be very careful and diligent in their use of the CRU facilities, parking areas and the overall grounds themselves. The CRU will try to do everything possible to ensure the facilities and the grounds meet all of the required safety standards, but would ask each and everyone visiting or using the CRU facilities, at any time, to exercise an added degree of caution and safety to ensure everyone's individual protection while at these premises. These cautionary words apply directly to everyone involved with the sport of rugby, those other sporting groups using the CRU fields and facilities and everyone else visiting the CRU park, for sporting or other social interests. Due to this construction delay, certain events may be suspended from using the CRU during this time period or may have to be re-scheduled to other outdoor venues within or around the City of Calgary. For this we apologize.

As the CRU does not control the ultimate timing and completion of the expansion plans initiated, the CRU does have the best interests of each and every one of its members, other user groups and/or social participants in mind for every aspect of its development. We shall endeavor to keep everyone informed as to any and all developments impacting the CRU and its facilities over the next period of time. All changes to the CRU and its forthcoming plans shall be posted on this website and will be available as soon as the information becomes available to the CRU or its management group. We apologize, in advance, for this great inconvenience, and shall work diligently to minimize the impact of this situation as expeditiously as possible.
